George Orwell explains how the English language is in a bad state, but we cannot do anything about this. Adding on to this he explains how people compare 'candles to electricity lights', this means the revolution is happening rapidly, this shows how people have shaped the language into their own dialect.
One of Orwell's main aspects was the 'political and economic causes', I think he is explaining that when one person uses language the other person will gradually evolve it and transform it. As an example, Orwell explains to us 'A man may take to drink because he feels himself to be a failure, and then fail all the more completely because he drinks', From this statement Orwell is inferring that the language is being effected by the decision of the past generation.
Also according to Orwell, the English language has become 'ugly' or 'inaccurate', As Orwell describes our thoughts as being 'foolish'. This is leading to our 'slovenliness' of our language, this betrays Orwell's hatred upon our modern language.
In conclusion Orwell also describes the disposal of verbs and producing them as phrases made up of nouns and adjectives. In certain types of writing i.e. art criticism and literacy criticism it is frequent to come across long passages which are almost completely lacking in meaning. So Orwell is portraying that words 'romantic and plastic' are meaningless. Overall I think main objective of the blog was to show his passion of hatred towards English language, but also hopes bad habits are changing.
In my opinion, I agree with Orwell as the English language massively over the period of English language but to be fair different generations will change the method of how the English language is spoken.
